Diet Coke Teams Up with NHLBI on The Heart Truth™ to Raise Awareness of Women's Heart Health

Diet Coke is teaming up with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in support of The Heart Truth, a national campaign to educate women about heart disease.

Last year, Diet Coke helped get The Heart Truth message out to millions of people, and this year the goal is to help NHLBI reach even more consumers through local and national activities including a national print, TV and digital ad campaign featuring Diet Coke’s heart health ambassador Heidi Klum educational events, Heart Truth Road Shows and programs with Coca-Cola Company retail customers across the country.

“For more than 25 years Diet Coke has played an integral role in consumers’ lives. We know that women today, more than ever, are interested in taking care of their health, and Diet Coke is committed to supporting the NHLBI in spreading the message about good heart healthy habits," said Caren Pasquale Seckler, group director, Low-Calorie Colas, Coca-Cola North America. “Heidi Klum’s star-power helped The Heart Truth™ message reach millions of women last year, but there is still more work to be done.”

More than six billion packages of Diet Coke will carry The Heart Truth’s Red Dress logo. For the rest of the year, every time someone selects a Diet Coke at the store or puts one on their desk or dining table, they’ll be reminded to take a minute to learn more about heart health and to take steps toward healthier living. Consumers can also download valuable information on heart health, including “The Risks Factors for Heart Disease” from NHLBI and “Healthy Heart Tips” from The American Dietetic Association from DietCoke.com, as well as from the ADA website at www.eatright.org/hearthealth and from the NHLBI at http://www.hearttruth.org.

This is the second consecutive year that Diet Coke has partnered with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in support of The Heart Truth and the first year that ADA has been involved.  ADA is joining Diet Coke in support of The Heart Truth™ program this year through Coca-Cola, a Partner in the ADA’s corporate relations sponsorship program.
