Huaying Zhang, M.D.
Director of Health & Wellness for Asia

Huaying Zhang, M.D. Huaying Zhang is the director of Health and Wellness for Asia at The Beverage Institute for Health & Wellness, The Coca-Cola Company.

Dr. Zhang joined The Coca-Cola Company in 1994, managing scientific and regulatory affairs for Asia. In 2000, she became the technical director for Coca-Cola Asia, where she led a team building a new Asian product research and development center in Shanghai and expanded the Tokyo R&D Center's scope of work to include applied scientific research. Her team also provided technical services to the business unit throughout Asia.

Dr. Zhang's work with The Beverage Institute focuses on three areas: nutrition fortification, sports nutrition, and Asian health approaches. She is the co-chair of Global Business Alliance for Food Fortification (BAFF) of GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition). She is responsible for The Beverage Institute/Coca-Cola Company collaboration with the Sports Medicine Institute of General Administration of Sport in China to develop sports beverages for Chinese athletes. She also initiated the Company's collaboration with the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine to find ways to help people benefit from thousands years of wisdom while living their modern life.

Prior to joining The Coca-Cola Company, Dr. Zhang worked in the Ministry of Health on food safety control in China from 1988 to 1992. She managed the revision of food law and the establishment of a food standard system, developed food regulations, including the Regulation on Novel Food, and built the first list of ingredients that can be used both as food and Chinese medicine.

Dr. Zhang received her Medical degree from Beijing University in China. She also holds a Masters in Public Health from Rutgers University in New Jersey, and a Masters in Business Administration from University of Western Ontario, Canada.
