Maxime E. Buyckx, M.D., M.B.ADr. Maxime Buyckx is director, Nutrition and Health Sciences at The Beverage Institute for Health & Wellness, The Coca-Cola Company.

For more than ten years, Dr. Buyckx has provided overall global oversight on nutrition and health issues for The Coca-Cola Company. He leads the development of global scientific strategies and programs related to nutrition and health. His work includes support to overall marketing and innovation efforts, especially in the area of hydration and sports drinks. He also works in the area of food safety and regulatory matters at the international level and with FAO, WHO and many other international organizations on a wide array of health, nutrition and food safety topics. Dr. Buyckx represents the Company at meetings, in key scientific associations, trade associations and international organizations.

Prior to joining The Coca-Cola Company, he worked at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations based in Rome, Italy. He held different positions at the FAO, working extensively in Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Asia. He has done work in the area of vitamin A and micronutrient deficiency, nutrition education, food composition, ood and agriculture planning/policy, nutrient requirements and food safety. He was also part of the Joint Secretariat in charge of the United Nations FAO/WHO International Conference on Nutrition (1992).

Dr. Buyckx received his Medical degree from the Catholic University of Sacred Heart in Rome, Italy. He also holds a specialization in Nutrition and Public Health from the National Institute of Food Technology from Paris, France and a Masters in Business dministration from the Open University, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom.
